Nonprofits continue to lose their donors at an alarming rate, with typical new donor retention running at only 30%. This matters since even small improvements in loyalty in the here and now can have a dramatic impact on the lifetime value of the fundraising database. In this session we explore what might be done to improve on the current pattern of performance, drawing on 20 years of research and the very best of professional practice. We will particularly emphasize the role of technology in retention and the analyses that can help fundraisers develop a successful retention strategy.
